the albertane tour, july 5, 1998
atlanta, georgia
we arrived at the venue at about 3:00 pm. the gates
weren't going to open until 5:30. the lines were long,
but for a hanson concert you could say they were really
short. i guess because we all had reserved seats
except for the lawn. we bought our merchandise, i
purchased one of everything, it was about 300.00. we
took our posters and programs back to the car so they
wouldnt get messed up during the concert. we put the
rest of the stuff in our backpacks. then one of the
merchandise guys came out to the booth i was standing
at and started talking to us. he said that hanson was
inside the stadium playing soccer in the lawn seating.
he said that one of them went to kick the ball and his
shoe went flying at least 20 ft in the air. everyone
started laughing and saying that is must have been zac,
since the guy said he didnt know who was who. we stood
around in the heat for about an hour and a half, fun
eh? everyone was getting pushed closer togther and it
was getting really hot because the whole thing was
outside. finally one of the workers came out and said
that they would be opening the gates soon. so then
everyone started screaming, chants of hanson nad mmmbop
were starting and stopping all throughout the crowd.
no one really seemed to be into it thought, i guess it
was just too hot. you could hear the sound check going
on inside too, tay started singing and there was no
music playing and he sounded so awesome! then they
opened the gates, but in front of the gates there was
about a 50ft wide area and then another gate. so they
opened the first gate everyone was behind and let about
30 ppl in each opening at a time and let them go in the
main gate. they announced that if you had coolers,
cameras, or lawn chairs you wold have to take them back
to your car. so we stuck our cameras in our bags ans
walked right in, they didnt even think about checking
us. we found our seats. we were in section 203, row
aaa seats 3, 4, 5, & 6. so we were pretty much in teh
center of the house, but it wasn't super close, but it
was a really good view. we still had a couple of hours
before the concert started at 7:00 so we decided to
wonder around. we found the backstage area where
hanson was going to come out and meet about 20 fans.
surround the "backstage" area was a 7ft picket fence,
remember this is all outside, with some pretty wide
spaces in between the boards, so we could see hanson
perfectly when they finally came out. zac kept coming
up to the fence and shook a couple of ppl's hands.
walker was recording the whole thing. the security
guys said we could stay tre as long as we didnt push on
teh fence or scream. we were doing fine until more
girls came up and started screaming, because they didnt
know not to. so we finally got them to shut up, and
then more girls started coming and pushing and
shooving. i was standing right in front of the fence,
so i was lucky and i got about 15 really good pictures
between the cracks. finally they made us leave because
hanson went back into their dressing rooms. by then
security had come out and was holding up the fence.
someone through a beachball over the fence and zac
picked it up and through it back over. the posed for
about 5 pictures with groups of fans. ike had on black
leather pants, a black undershirt, a maroon/burgandy
button-up shirt and i couldnt see what type of boots he
had on but they were black. he also had his hair down.
zac had on green vinyl snowboarding pants, a white
short sleeve shirt, and brown boots, his hair was down
too. tay had on a navy blue short sleeve shirt and
black pants. i think they were jeans. he has on a new
pair of black dr martens and his hair was pulled back
in a ponytail. i got some awesome pictures of them
backstage and of walker too. well by now hanson was
back inside and we went back to our seats. the stadium
was crowded by the time we had come back in it. we
waited and waited, and the whole time they played music
from aerosmith's "get a grip" and "nine lives" cds.
then finally admiral twin came out. they did about an
hour's worth of songs and they were really good. jarrod
gollihare plays the drums. then after they left the
stage, they started playing the wallflower's ""bringing
down the horse" cd and aerosmith again. the crowd kept
screaming everytime the curtain moved or someone walked
backstage. before the curtain came up, hanson stood
right behind it and started shaking the curtain and the
crowd went wild. then finally the curtain came down
and hanson was standing their behind their instruments.
they opened with "gimme some lovin" of course. then
walker walked right in front of us and started video
taping everyone and he had ike's video camera. i got a
really good picture of him too. no one recognized him
though. anyway, we ran up to the next section and took
as many pix as we could before the security guys made
us go back to our seats. we werent supposed to stand
in our seats but everyone else did it so we had to, to
be able to see. they did 20 songs, and during the
second one taylor took off his shirt and had on his
white undershirt. then they started shooting us with
waterguns and throwing water ballons at us with a
sling, and everytime zac tried to use it the ballon
busted on him, so they just threw them. during the
concert ike had on a black long sleeve shirt, the one
from thr IWCTY video, and black leather pants and black
boots, now his hair was pulled back. zac has on a red
long seeve shirt and blue vinyl pants, his hair was
down and he had on black boots, and one of those chain
wallets with a medium length chain. tay had on a green
and white shirt, with his white under shirt, under it
(duh), black pants and the same shoes. now he had his
hair down. during the concert when they were playing instrumental ike started playing the keyboards and tay shook everyons hand in teh fron row. during the whole concert ike was jumping of the drum platform and doing some awesome rips. then tay started playing the drms and zac ran down the fron row giving everyone a high five. zac had glow in teh dark drum sticks too and they rocked! he didnt throw them out though. when they did the accoustic set they brought out furniture onto the stage. then at the end we enocred them back on twice. zac through out tay's tambourine and ike through out one of his picks. then they held hand sand took a bow. we walked up to the stage after the show and they had two huge oil drums filled with gifts from fans. then we tried to get backstage and ths security guy almost let us back there but another security guy came up and woundt let us =-( so we walked out to the parking lot and there was a black stretch limo with 3 or 4 kids in it, we couldnt tell, but we took a pic in front of it because the nice security guy said thathanson & admiraltwin came together in a limo and then it left and would come back later. the concert really rocked and was an awesome experience i will never forget.
